Massage Course Testimonials
Alison - December 2009
As a practicing health professional I was looking for a massage course that focussed on teaching practical massage skills as opposed to anatomy, physiology and practice management (all of which I had covered previously). In addition to this, I also wanted to learn a deep tissue massage technique that effectively addressed the cause of a person’s pain. The information on the Brandon Raynor website indicated that the course would tick all the boxes for me, however before enrolling in the 5-day course taught by John Ryan on the Sunshine Coast, I booked in for a number of massages with John so that I could gain an understanding of the Brandon Raynor technique.
Having been an elite athlete in the years gone by I have a number of chronic injuries that need attention and the only style of massage that has ever worked for me is deep tissue massage combined with sustained acupressure. I was very pleased to find that John used both of these methods very effectively. I therefore enrolled in the November 2009 Certificate course.
John Ryan’s teaching style was relaxed, yet at the same time efficient and informative. He provided constant feedback on the correct and best techniques to use, and at no time did I feel that anything he was saying was irrelevant or uninformative. The vast majority of our time over the 5 days was spent giving or receiving massages. John was always willing to answer our questions and to share what he has learned throughout his career as a massage therapist.
For anyone who is looking for a no-nonsense, practically focussed massage course I would highly recommend a John Ryan taught Brandon Raynor course.

I want to thank John & Kathie very much for the “professional” training & “support” you have provided me through the Brandon Raynor School of Massage & Chamomile Massage Therapy Centre in August 2009 on the beautiful Sunshine Coast Queensland.
As I have suffered back/body pain for the last twenty plus years, I have visited numerous Massage Therapists, Chiropractors & Physios etc in an endeavour to find relief. I did however get relief, but it was only short term. (Pity I didn’t find out about the Brandon Raynor technique and John earlier for my own benefit)!
Over the years and through receiving these difference massage techniques I began to understand which ones helped me and in turn I began to help my friends and family with similar complaints.
I discovered through their positive comments that I was helping to relieve their tension and discomfort even with the minimal knowledge that I had and that I enjoyed giving them massages. It was at this point that I decided it was time to learn more about and undertake the proper training which would enable me to massage as a full time therapist. I researched massage courses via the internet and there are only a small number of short courses available. After contacting the schools that I had taken an interest in, Brandon Raynor’s was the one I decided to pursue and that’s how I met John.
I have completed a lot of course’s and training throughout my working career and I must admit John’s course was the most enjoyable! It was full-on for 2 weeks, so much fun and I cannot believe you can learn so much in a short period of time. I would recommend this course to anyone thinking about getting qualified in Massage even if you have no experience.
Not only is John a great teacher, he is also one of the best Massage Therapists I have ever met. His knowledge and incredible skills are amazing, one of a kind, who cares deeply for your wellbeing.
John has given me so much confidence and through his support and advice, I now have my own Massage Therapy business up and running and enjoying the benefits – seeing clients walk out feeling relieved of pain/tension and feeling rejuvenated.
Thankyou again John & Kathie, you both are a great mentors and it’s great to be part of the family!
Anyone that is interested in completing any of John’s courses, please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have any questions.

I enrolled on the 5 day Raynor certificate course in London taught by John Ryan, thinking that it would be enough for my needs. Those 5 days taught me so much that 3 weeks later I went Dublin to complete my diploma.
I was so impressed by the amount that I have been able to learn over the 10 days. John is an extremely knowledgeable tutor ready and willing to impart and share his enthusiasm, with a few tales and lots of laughter along the way . No number of questions were too many and he was always willing to show you again. After the first 5 days my mind had been opened and I was and still am eager to learn.
The course is extremely hands on, giving or receiving massage under full guidance so that you are learning all the time. The Raynor massage is defiantly no skin rub but being able to help release the the tension out of the body and helping people feel better is the best thing Ihave learnt.
I really have been inspired by the course, and have met some great new friends along the way. I would really recommend the course to anyone and I am looking forward to learning more. I would like to say thank you to John for not only teaching me massage but for making me eager to learn more.

I have just completed my Certificate in Massage of the Raynor Technique in Adelaide. I found it to be extremely informative, encouraging and a lot of fun. John is an excellent teacher and I could not fault him. It didn’t matter if he had to explain it over and over again; he encouraged us until we mastered it. I did a lot of research beforehand about different courses (most of them were part time over a long period) but I wanted to start earning money, so this was fantastic way to do it. The type of massage taught is different to anything I have experienced – you walk away feeling wonderful, but it helps align your body as a whole at the same time. I would recommend this course to anyone without hesitation. I can be contacted at evisiondesign@bigpond.com or 0438 343 833 to answer any questions.

I was looking for a massage course that wasn't going to be too long where I would get bored before I had finished plus something that wasn't a superficial beauty treatment. I knew once I had read the info on the net that this was the course for me ...... and i got what I was looking for. This massage works on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and as I experienced all that myself I know it to be true. Another case of seeing is believing! The weak points and the strong points of myself came to the fore and I learnt things about myself from the other participants who always came a day later to chat and I saw myself in a different light and to be honest in a better light than before. What I saw as weaknesses they saw as strengths, a new experience
for me! I have already started working and have had clients who are experiencing feeling energy releases on the first massage and emotional releases immediately. I love that as I don't like superficial things the world has too many already -Would like to say I discovered a new strength in myself but I also discovered I like all the other parts of myself as well so thank you to the other people who showed me that! Also to say thank you to Kathie as well - she was wonderful and our aroma day with her very special!.

Mr. John Ryan is a great teacher and teaches with passion. It was mind blowing to learn what we can do with Reflexology and the amazing benefits of Aromatherapy. Until Kathie Ryan taught us Aromatherapy I thought it was about smelling nice, i didn't know it was a treatment. I watched with amazement as the blends i and my course mate prepared for each other surprisingly worked on our Flu and Sore throat. I also now know the difference between Massage and Body work. I now know how important it is to work on the stomach during massage/body work, as every other massage i have had, only worked on my back.

I went into this course without any massage background and it was a great experience. My trainer John Ryan and wife Kathie, were fantastic and if I can be half as good as John is, then I will be happy. The two weeks was intense and I enjoyed it very much and now I need to continue my training and massage as many people as I can. Thank you for the opportunity to become a better person and one day, a great masseur.

What a stunning two weeks I’ve enjoyed. The tears on the last day were genuine –John and Kathie cared and shared and were instrumental in creating an amazing student bond – what great people!! I found John’s hands on training, combined with his amazing student rapport very effective, I floundered, he encouraged and supported, I couldn’t have asked for more! I’ve returned home with a new qualification and memories that will live on. To anyone out there who has that calling to learn massage, I can’t recommend this highly enough!! I am indeed enlightened – the course proved to be a great work-out for mind body and soul
Carolanne:
After many years of ‘dabbling’ in home massage for my friends and family, I finally took the plunge and resigned my job with a view to increasing my skills and making a career as a Massage Therapist. To say I was nervous is an understatement. I have worked in the banking and office Administration area for nearly 30 years so a career change at this time in my life is needless to say – daunting!
After researching many web sites, reading many testimonials and forever doubting myself, I was drawn to Chamomile Massage Centre and the Raynor Method massage. Not only because it offered an ‘Intensive Course” but the testimonials on the site gave me the confidence to pursue my ambition.
On entering the centre, myself, along with 4 other very nervous students were put totally at ease by both John and Kathie. We were all of similar age (except Allison) and all had our own reasons for being ready to discover more about the Raynor method. Allison, very smartly, took the opportunity to ‘try out and experience’ one of John’s unique massages and I would recommend this to all future students.
From the very outset John explained, demonstrated, explained and demonstrated again a completely new and innovative method in massaging our tired, aching bodies. He found many ‘points’ that we were unaware of even existed. We released a lot of tension (heaps and heaps of tension for some of us) and began to be more confident in treating each other. We drew very lovely Reflexology charts on each others feet (which helped me to remember) and had great pleasure in giving John some of his own medicine.
The admiration from our little class to John to continue to teach and give us a complete course through their time of loss & grief was unquestionable. Such a strong bond was formed in such a short time and I am sure that we have all made new and long term friendships.
To anyone even remotely thinking about taking this course – DO IT!! If you never have paying customer, you will have a much better knowledge and understanding of your own body let along anyone else’s.
